As I travel to various countries, I enjoy new people, new food and a new culture. Although I enjoy my new surroundings,
• Eventually my taste buds long for home-cooking.
• Eventually I long for family, home, and my own bed.
• Eventually I begin to feel like a stranger.
King David said to God,
For we are strangers before you and sojourners, as all our fathers were. Our days on the earth are like a shadow, and there is no abiding. I Chronicles 29:15 ESV
Why? Because we are citizens of heaven. We really do not “fit in” on earth.
Yet, there are times when I do not look like a stranger here on earth—when my heart’s attachments are more earthly than heavenly and my taste buds long for
self-satisfaction and man’s approval. I have failed to:
Taste and see that the Lord is good... Psalm 34:8 NIV
Will you join me in seeking the Kingdom of Heaven… “and the things of earth will
